Grandma’s to my house is 12 blocks!
My house to Adventureland is about 25 blocks!
Adventureland to Brooklyn Zoo is about 15 blocks!

Make note of a few simple turns and you’ll be rockin’ the city before too long.

Other things to note about Portland :
Number streets generally run from North to South, and name streets from East to West.
Basically, the river separates the East side from the West side. All addresses increment up the further you are from the river. In reality this doesn’t work so well in North Portland where the river curves West. So, in reality it is easier to use MLK as 5th Avenue, and anything West of MLK in this area is “North Portland”.
Burnside separates the north from the south. All addresses increment up the further you are from Burnside.

So, 1200 NE 12th is 12 blocks N of Burnside on 12th Ave, which is 12 blocks E of the river.

My favorite streets to commute on :
SE 11th and 12th (opposing directions), 11th being Milwaukee Ave when south of Powell
    SE Woodstock Blvd
    SE Holgate
    SE 21st
    NE 7th
NE 15th (from SE 12th take a right on Lloyd Blvd and follow the underpass)
    SE Belmont
    SE Division
    SE 39th
    SE Ladd’s Ave
    Naito Parkway
    N Interstate Ave
Martin Luther King and Grand Ave (opposing directions)
NE Broadway, including the Broadway Bridge and into downtown
    Burnside, and the Burnside Bridge
    SW Glisan

Wow, Erin. That is helpful for the visitors! I may put that on the printed map.

    MLK is actually “4th”.
    GRAND is actually “5th”
there are NO number streets at all in North Portland.

I agree with ALL of those favorite commuting streets as they all have a 30mph speed limit, which makes it “moped friendly”!
