I’m looking for info on the group of riders that cruised through Troutdale on the Columbia River Hwy. at about 3PM on Saturday, November 15th.

There were about 20 or so, small 2-stroke bikes. There were several that looked more like small vintage/classic Motorcycles than Mopeds. Some very cool looking bikes that I’d like to learn more about.

    Thanks

    Thanks for the reply Erin.

Do you know of any links to pics of this ride? Or a site that shows pics & performance specs on some of these bikes? Especially the older ones. There was one I could see, that looked like it had an exposed flywheel, much like an old Hit and Miss Engine. That one really looked cool!

    Thanks

a.) go check out http://www.mopedarmy.com you’ll see more mopeds than you know what to do with. Be sure to check out the photo section.
b.) most of those bikes were over 25 years old. I think there were MAYBE 5 new bikes in the pack.
c.) I don’t think anyone’s posted their pictures of that ride yet, but they will most likely make it to the photos section eventually.

I just got my 78 Honda Hobbit titled, registered, rebuilt, running like a top, and so on, and thus forth, and it took me 6 months and now it’s all I think about so I ride it constantly. At least once I want to live the dream and ride in a big group of mopeds, scowling at “normals,” etc. I keep patrolling the city but only find groups of MAYBE 3 bikes at most (boooorrrrriiinnnngggg). There is no way I would be able to hang out weekly, nor do I have the patience to sit through the gruesome beating required to be an official member. But I do drink alot of mimosas. Can I just pop by some Sunday for a group ride?

Why are Sunday’s exclusive? Why limit your impact by limiting the amount of riders on the Lords day? Isn’t mopeding, a thing about riding in numbers and having a good time, and not about typical American cliqiness?
The wednesday rides aren’t any fun, there isn’t very much riding, just a whole lot of drinking, I think I’m just going to go to your Sunday rides because from what I hear it is the only time that you actually ride. I believe mopeds are fundamentally about sharing a community and a culture that is by all means rather all inclusive and supportive of one and other. And creating events for exclusives by ‘othering’ those who would be considered outsiders, is just perpetuating the attitude that has influenced the events of history that have brought about racism, justified wars and these blokes that think their so special in their secret societies. Everyone should always be welcome to hang out amongst mopeders!

sundays are our day. There is too much unnecessary chaos when every random person in the world goes on a ride together. Wednesday night rides do suck, theres no denying that, but we are working on fixing it.

Also, Mopeds arent a numbers game to us. Slow growth is the way we like it.

My point exactly! Your exclusiveness is crap.

Are you trying to start something? This obviously has less to do with riding and more to do with you trying to be around my girlfriend.

Sunday exclusiveness came out of neccessity. The first two years of the Sunday ride we averaged 2-5 riders, at some points last year we were riding with 20 or so. There’s even more people on bikes this year and summer hasn’t even started. Hopefully we can figure something out because summer Sunday rides are the best.

sunday rides are our rides because a lot of people with mopeds are annoying and we don’t like them around.
if we like you, we tell you to come out on sunday. stop bitching.

Hey Cutters, I’ve been trying to get a couple of loaner bikes up and running for the rally. One bike only needs a coil, anybody know where I can purchase a coil to a Kinetic (I know, Kinetic?) with CDI?
